Mitsubishi this weekend announced the Lancer Ralliart — the latest addition to the Lancer family. The car is powered by a new 2.0-liter DOHC MIVEC intercooled and turbocharged engine that develops an estimated 235 horsepower. The engine is mated to Mitsubishi’s Twin Clutch-SST gearbox, featuring manual and automatic shift modes.

The 4.0-liter V6 is plenty potent, with quick pickup and smooth operation mated to the auto gearbox. Unless you tow often, there’s little need to upgrade to the V8. The brakes are strong and grabby–almost too grabby, but we’ll take that over the mushy pedal feel of many similar midsize utes.

Mercedes’ SLK roadster is getting a facelift for 2009, with around 650 parts that are either brand new or modified. Most obvious is the redesigned front end, which apes the style of the much larger McLaren SLR road car. The air dam has also been modified to give the whole nose a more pronounced arrow-like shape.
