Ben Sherman presents The Big British Sound: Best of the Festivals
Ben Sherman presents ‘The Big British Sound: Best of the Festivals four gigs, four cities, and a hand-picked line up of the most talented, rising musicians offer you the chance to sample the ultimate sound this October.
British music and style are synonymous with Ben Sherman who led the signature look for the mod revolution in the 60s. Throughout the past five decades it has continued to inspire a fashion-faithful following from 70s rock, 80s Ska and 90s Britpop. Today Ben Sherman has evolved into a complete lifestyle brand and continues to be adopted as the style-savvy stamp of the hottest British bands.
To celebrate the best of homegrown talent and continue its support of rising bands on the British music scene, Ben Sherman team up with Live Nation to present four unmissable gigs. Kicking off with headline sets from Pete & The Pirates, Daggers and Delays, Little Man Tate and Twisted Wheel, The Raveonettes and Liam Fray, as well as a DJ sets from The Twang and Adam Ficek (Babyshambles) and The Horrors, Ben Sherman promises the ultimate gig.
Launching at Bucks Student Union the live gigs will also hit Manchester Academy, Birmingham Barfly (Sanctuary) with the closing gig in the UKs fashion and music capital Londons 229 Club.
Across the tour the cities will take in headliners from,
LIAM FRAY (COURTEENERS)
Fresh from a run of sold out shows at Shepherds Bush Empire with his band The Courteeners, Liam Fray will be playing an exclusive acoustic set.
THE RAVEONETTES
This rock and roll duo whose music is characterized by close two-part vocal harmonies inspired by The Everly Brothers, coupled with hard-edged electric guitar overlaid with liberal doses of noise, has been compared to the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain and the Velvet Underground.
LITTLE MAN TATE
Like all great bands, Little Man Tate are a gang, possessed with a hedonistic, good time ethos that bonds the four life-long friends together. And from humble, everyday surroundings from their hometown in Sheffield, they make extraordinary music and are too ready to unleash the album Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy on 15th September.
“Little Man Tate: man, we love your band” NME
“Solid gold indie-disco hits” - The Fly
TWISTED WHEEL
Acclaimed from the likes of Zane Lowe (”Hottest Record In The World”), NME & Q amongst others, Twisted Wheel released the You Stole The Sun EP on July 28th on limited numbered 7″ vinyl and as a download.
Currently supporting The Courteeners on their sell out tour.
DELAYS
Delays have played sold-out U.S tours and recorded Everythings The Rush in Spain with producer Youth (Primal Scream/Verve/Paul McCartney). It is the sound of Delays striding confidently into the big league. The tunes are brighter, the choruses are bigger, the need for emotional rescue greater than ever.
Its been worth the wait.
Turn up the speakers; join the rush.
DAGGERS
Daggers, five Mancunians with a messed-up take on early 80s electro-pop. The buzz about them says that if there’s any justice, this Gary Numan-goosing, skyscraping electro-rock will fill stadiums one day.
“Money has a rainbow chorus so big and brilliant only a packed-out Wembley could do it justice” - NME
“Excellent… a Top 10 hit.” - The Guardian
PETE & THE PIRATES
The band’s debut album, Little Death, met across the board critical acclaim upon it’s release in February and is further proof that Pete and the Pirates can create a collection of timeless, near perfect pop songs. Pete and the Pirates have been winning over festival audiences nationwide this summer.
“Taming psychedelia and punk into sloppy/pristine DIY pop!” Pitchfork
