David Gilmour to release Live In Poland

Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour will release a live album from his 2006 ‘On An Island’ tour, recorded in Poland in September.

Gilmour was in Poland the invitation of former President Lech Walesa and Mayor of the city of Gdansk, Pawel Adamowicz to do the show to mark the 26th anniversary of the founding of the trade union Solidarity.

The concert on August 26, 2006, featured certain Pink Floyd songs performed for the first time with an orchestra. Gilmour performed with the Polish Baltic Philharmonic.

Pink Floyd keyboard player Richard Wright played in the band. Roxy ’s Phil Manzanera was on guitar.

“This was my first concert in Poland and I was delighted that marked one of the most important anniversaries in recent European history” Gilmour said in a statement.

“The Gdansk shipyard is a deeply symbolic place and we were all honored to perform our there. was great to be accompanied by the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, and to have our Zbigniew Preisner and pianist Leszek Mozdzer also performing.”

The album will be available in different formats and with various tracklistings.
