Wombats get back to Gaymers Grassroots
Gaymers cider has signed up The Wombats to bring Gaymers Grassroots Gigs to a spectacular climax in Liverpool on June 17th.
The Wombats are the last of four bands packed full of English character to perform to an intimate crowd at a secret pub venue as part Gaymers Grassroots Gigs.
Following on from critically-acclaimed shows by The Futureheads, Young Knives and Mystery Jets, the Wombats will return to their hometown roots and perform an exclusive set to a small crowd at a local music venue, back where all the magic began.
All performances offer music fans the chance to see these established acts in the humble surroundings of the pub, club or venue that used to be part of their regular gig circuit, as they strived to make a mark on the music scene.
The Wombats head back to Liverpool on 17th June. A performance by this wacky indie band could involve a crazy mix of jesters, madmen, rom-coms, strippers, chart hits and cuddly marsupials. You really have to be there.
The Wombats have come a long way since meeting in 2003 at Paul McCartneys Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA). Being the first officially unsigned act to sell out at Liverpools Carling Academy helped make the band fully-fledged local heroes. The band has solidified their status by playing massive venues such as Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium and having Sir Paul McCartney himself wanting to produce their music.
Gaymers Grassroots Gigs presents a fantastic opportunity to see the Wombats up close and personal going back to their roots. The gigs will be recorded as part of a special C4 programme to be broadcast mid-July.
So how can you get your hands on tickets? Head to www.gaymersmusic.com before 12th June where tickets will be up for grabs, free of charge, through a competition. With numbers at the gig strictly limited, its a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness an intimate performance from one of the most talented bands around.
If youre not lucky enough to win a ticket, you can catch it all on the Gaymersmusic.com website, which will also feature exclusive content from all of the Gaymers Grassroots Gigs and interviews with the bands, plus chances to win tickets to some of the hottest music performances of the year.
