What is the Wrath of the Lich King beta?
The Wrath of the Lich King beta is the final stage of testing for the next expansion to WoW, Wrath of the Lich King. allows participants to and test the content, gameplay, and of the new expansion and give feedback to the before the retail release.
How do I get into the beta?

You must have registered for our beta opt-in program, in which you enter a WoW account into the running to participate in the Wrath of the Lich King beta. If the account is selected, you will receive an from with further instructions. Players who have been promised beta access through a promotion (such as by purchasing the Dell XPS M1730 WoW Edition laptop) or contest (such as the Frostmourne Art Contest) do not have to opt in.

I didn’t opt in before the beta started! Is too late?
No. The opt-in will be available until the beta closes. You can opt in now if you’d like a chance to be invited to participate a later date.

How are beta participants selected?
Beta invitees are selected through a random process involving all players who chose to opt in. If you opted in early, doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be invited before someone who opted in after you.

If I receive an invitation to the beta, what do I need to do to play?
If you have received a beta key in an , you must follow several steps before you can begin your journey into Northrend. First, you must upgrade the WoW account you use to a Wrath of the Lich King beta account. Next, you have the option to copy characters to the beta realms. Third, you must create a temporary Account, which you will use to log in to the beta client. Finally, you must download the beta client itself. These steps are detailed on the Wrath of the Lich King Beta Homepage.

What is a temporary Account?
The Wrath of the Lich King beta test is taking place within our test-realm , and so testers will need to create a temporary, limited-use Account to log in to the test realms. A Account is different from a WoW account and is used to manage your and make purchases from the Store. However, the normal functions of a Account are disabled on the temporary account you create for the beta. To learn more, refer to the Temporary Account section of the FAQ below.

How do I copy a character?
From the beta homepage, navigate to the character-copy section. After logging in with a WoW account, you will be able to select the characters you wish to copy and initiate the copy process. Make sure you upgrade this account to a beta account before attempting to copy any characters.

How many times may I copy characters?
You can make up to character copies for the beta. Characters on Player-vs.-Player realms will be copied to the Player-vs.-Player beta realm, and characters on Normal and -Playing realms will be copied to the Normal beta realm. Deleting a character from the beta realms will not allow you to perform an extra character copy. You can copy the same character multiple times, but each time will count as a separate character copy.

Can I create a on the beta realms?
Yes, we encourage you to try the new hero class. If you wish, you can create a new character of another class as well.

Do knights have their own starting area?
Yes, the starting area is called Archerus, the Ebon Hold. is located in the eastern part of Eastern Plaguelands.

If I was in a previous stage of testing for Wrath of the Lich King, will characters I played during that testing phase automatically to the beta?
Yes, but all characters from previous phases will be locked and unplayable for several weeks after the launch of the beta. Once the transferred characters become unlocked, you can resume playing them from where you left off.

Will the progress characters make on the beta carry over to the live game?
No. Progress made by characters on beta realms will not be transferred back to characters on the live realms when Wrath of the Lich King is released.

If I find a bug or want to leave feedback in the beta test, what should I do?
Typing /bug into your window or clicking an icon on the mini- will open the Feedback interface. Here you can provide feedback on specific parts of the game, such as individual , or fill out a bug report. Your input is highly valuable to us during this important stage of the game’s development.

What are the system requirements for the beta?
The final system requirements for Wrath of the Lich King have yet to be determined. However, if your computer can run The Burning Crusade, will likely be able to run the Wrath of the Lich King beta as well.

What is the purpose of a Account, and how is different from a WoW account?

When will the temporary Account I created to access the Wrath of the Lich King beta test expire?
The temporary Account will only be active during the Wrath of the Lich King beta test. Once the beta test is completed, the temporary Account will expire.

Does this mean we’ll be logging in to WoW with a regular Account in the future?
We plan to make the Account the standard login for WoW beginning with Wrath of the Lich King.

Are there any additional fees or charges associated with creating this new account?
There are no fees or charges when creating a Account.

Can I make the Account name the same as the WoW account name I use?
No. The Account name is an address, so has to be different from the WoW account name.

Will I lose existing WoW characters by switching to a Account?
No, existing WoW characters will not be affected by creating a Account.

Will I have access to the WoW with a Account?
